VACANCIES - BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS - UPCOMING EXPIRATION OF TERMS - PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMISSION

 

Recommendation :

It is recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk to immediately advertise and request applications from interested parties for three Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Advisory Commission terms that will expire June 30, 2001, with appointments to be made at the regular Council meeting of June 26, 2001.

 

Background:

Three terms on the Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Advisory Commission will expire June 30, 2001. Following established procedure, this matter is being brought to the attention of Council at this time for direction with regard to advertising the upcoming expiration of terms. Traditionally, Council has directed that all seats be advertised. A notice inviting applications will be published setting a filing deadline of Wednesday, June 6, with a report back to Council at its meeting of June 12 for the scheduling of applicant interviews and appointments at the meeting of June 26.

 

PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMISSION

Three terms ending June 30, 2001

These seats are currently held by Howard Fishman, Silvestre "Sal" Gonzales and Geoffrey Hirsch, all of whom are eligible for reappointment. Mr. Gonzales has served on the Commission since August 12, 1997, when he was appointed to serve a full four-year term. Mr. Hirsch was appointed on January 25, 2000, to fill an unexpired term. Mr. Fishman was appointed on February 22, 2000, to fill an unexpired term. Appointments for these three seats would be for four-year terms ending June 30, 2005.
