PURCHASE OF UNDERCOVER VEHICLE

FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that Council:

1. Authorize the purchase of one (1) new police undercover vehicle (Chevy Tahoe) for the Police Department from Wondries Fleet Group of Alhambra, California.

BACKGROUND

It is recommended that this vehicle be purchased from Wondries Fleet Group in Alhambra, CA It is proposed that we "piggy-back" on the purchase order established with the City of Beverly Hills (purchase order no. 99202379) which purchased 10 Chevy Tahoe police vehicles. However, the price will be less since the vehicle will come in a standard color (a reduction of $849.00). Neither the State nor the County has contracts for vehicles that meet our needs.

FISCAL IMPACT

The funding for the purchase of this vehicle has been approved in the Equipment Replacement Fund for the current 1999/2000 fiscal year. ($31,763.80)
