MONTEREY BLVD STREET IMPROVEMENTS

PIER AVENUE TO 19TH STREET - ACCEPTANCE

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the City Council accept the work by Sully- Miller Contracting Company, of Anaheim, on CIP Project No. 98-142, Street Improvements, and authorize final payment to the contractor (10% retained for 35 days following filing of Certificate of Completion).

Background:

On January 12, 1999, City Council approved entering into an agreement with Sully-Miller Contracting Company, of Anaheim, to perform a complete street resurfacing with minor public right-of-way improvements and the lining of three selected lengths of existing sewer pipe within Monterey Boulevard between, Pier Avenue to 19th Street. The work included:

• Replace various concrete wheelchair ramps and driveway approaches
• Replace cross-gutters and minor sidewalk replacement
• Sewer lining
• Crack Sealing
• Street resurfacing and striping

The contractor has completed the work to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works/City Engineer.

Analysis:

Acceptance of the work and final payment is in order. The original contract amount was $163,775. Sully-Miller Contracting Company completed the work for $160,770.58, saving the City $3,004.42.

Fiscal Impact:

The project was completed under budget, therefore, $3,004.42 can be returned to fund 301 CIP.
