WHEREAS, the United States Government, acting through the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), has enacted the Maglev Deployment Program (23 U.S.C. WHEREAS, the initial segment of the Maglev project being planned by the Commission is "The First Forty Miles" between Las Vegas, Nevada and the California-Nevada State line at Primm ("Project"), and the 275 mile completed Maglev corridor shall operate between Las Vegas, Nevada and Anaheim, California ("Corridor");

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Hermosa Beach does hereby recognize that the transportation needs of all residents within the Southern California region requires exploration of a high speed ground transportation network incorporated into a larger intermodal transportation network, thereby facilitating the moving of people in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
