Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council:
Background: A total of $125,000 has been allocated in the current budget for replacement of this vehicle.
Analysis: The current hi-lift truck no longer meets OSHA testing and certification standards. Staff, therefore, recommends the purchase of the noted vehicle piggybacked with an order placed by the County of Los Angeles. This vehicle will have a 50-foot working height, a two-man bucket and articulating/telescoping arms. The gross vehicle weight is also designed to permit driving of the vehicle by anyone holding the standard class C driver’s license. The current hi-lift truck was used for street lighting repairs, traffic signals, banners, tree trimming and special events. There is a 270-day lead-time for this vehicle.
Fiscal Impact: Funds in the amount of $125,000 were allocated in the current (FY 00-01) budget for replacement of this vehicle.
