REQUEST TO APPROPRIATE ADDITIONAL FUNDING
FROM THE
RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that Council:
BACKGROUND A total of $111,652.00 was appropriated for the Fiscal Year 2001-2002 Vehicle Replacement Fund for the Police Department. This funding was to purchase 4 new police cars that were due for rotation and the set-up costs of those cars. While there were sufficient funds to purchase all of the vehicles that were scheduled for replacement and the set-up costs of three of the vehicles, there are not enough funds to pay for the costs associated with the setting-up of the 4th vehicle. These set-up costs include such things as the installation of radios, emergency lighting, consoles, graphics and other associated equipment. Due to higher than anticipated costs associated with the purchase of the vehicles and the increased costs of equipment, there are insufficient monies to adequately fund these final set-up costs. It is requested that additional funds in the amount of $ 6,000 be appropriated from the City’s Vehicle Replacement Fund to pay for these additional costs. FISCAL IMPACT An amount of $6,000 to be appropriated from the Equipment Replacement Fund for the of set-up of police vehicles.
