HERMOSA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND VISITORS BUREAU 2001-2002 MARKETING PROPOSAL AND
REQUEST FOR FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $85,000.

 

Recommendation:

That the City Council review the proposal submitted by the Chamber of Commerce and provide direction to staff on whether or not the City Council wishes to consider the proposal.

 

Background:

The Chamber of Commerce has submitted a marketing proposal for the coming fiscal year that details their proposed effort in attracting visitors to Hermosa Beach. The overall budget for this promotion effort is $100,000. They are requesting that the City Council consider funding a majority of the promotional effort with a City cost of $85,000. The remainder of the funding would come from in-kind Chamber staff time.

A number of cities and chambers have contractual relationships that provide for implementing promotional efforts to attract visitors and business. If the City Council is interested in pursuing this proposal, staff can provide samples of how the programs have been implemented in other cities.

The Chamber will have representatives at the meeting to discuss the proposal.
