VEHICLE REGISTRATION SURCHARGE - SB98 (ALARCON)
Recommendation:
That the City Council authorize a letter of support for SB98 (Alarcon) and direct staff to track the bill as it moves through the legislative process.
Background:
This bill will reauthorize the $1 surcharge on vehicle registrations with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. These funds have been used to fund the clean fuels program and other activities in order to help meet the federal clean air mandates. A fact sheet prepared by the South Coast Air Quality Management District is attached.
