RECOMMENDATION: TO APPROVE A ONE-YEAR LEASE BETWEEN

THE CITY AND RESOURCES FOR INDEPENDENCE FOR SPACE IN

THE COMMUNITY CENTER.



Tennis Court Backboard: Kelly Courts


RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE

WOODEN BACKBOARD WITH A CONCRETE BACKBOARD TO

BE CONSTRUCTED WHEN THE KELLY COURTS ARE RESURFACED.



Hermosa Beach Community Center Foundation Report


RECOMMENDATION: REVIEW COMMUNITY CENTER FOUNDATION REPORT AND DIRECT STAFF AS APPROPRIATE.

City Council actions from the meeting of October 16, 1997

  1. Receive and file the Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Advisory Commission minutes of 9/17/9.


City Council actions from the meeting of October 28, 1997

  1. HB Youth Basketball League requests to share cost of new scoreboard: Approved staff recommendation to approve request to share in the cost of a new scoreboard in the amount up to $1,500.
  2. USSF to conduct amateur surfing contest: Approved staff recommendation to waive per/participant spectator fees; approve contract; and with understanding that if the event organizers wished to include a surf band with the event that the request would receive favorable reception from the Council.
  3. Skateboard Track: Community Center: To direct staff to return with cost estimates and a design that would use tennis court five (the easterly of the northern courts) as a skateboard track of approx. 8,000 sq. ft.; replace tennis court five in the area next to the southerly portion of the existing courts; and replace the parking through re-striping and the development of the vacant lot.
  4. Receive and file the Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Advisory Commission minutes of 10/15/97.
