ACTION MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:17 p.m.

  3. Approval of Action Minutes: September 19, 2007

    Minutes of September 19, 2007 were approved as written.

    No correspondence was received.

  6. Items for Commission Consideration

    1. Proposed valet program at Valley School and changing parking along Valley Drive to a 15-minute zone during drop-off and pick-up time periods.

      Mr. Morgan presented the item, giving a brief overview, then introduced Motor Officer Phillips, Lt. Lance Jaakola and Principal Sylvia Gluck; Officer Phillips distributed a hand out, then presented his proposal for the Valet Program and changes to parking on Valley Drive. He noted he’d like to have the program begin after the holiday break (12/17/07 through 1/4/08); Principal Gluck said will be sending out flyers prior to the break and the program is set to begin after the holiday break.

      Coming forward to address the commission on this item were: Doug Robbins, Valerie

      Elliott, Julie Curtis and Bernard Maurice.

      After much discussion, the following Motion was made:

      Motion by Commissioner Marinelli to support the Valet Program, pending approval by the School District, and approve staff recommendation - the parking on Valley Drive along the entire school frontage will be changed to 15-minute parking between the hours of 7:30 – 9:00 am and 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Seconded by Commissioner Brittain.

  7. Commissioners' Reports

    Commissioner Brittain reported on the walking tour the UPAC took of El Segundo with regard to the Main Street rejuvenation

  10. Commissioners’ Announcements

    Commissioner Katz announced Lawn Bowling Club Open House on Sunday, 10/28 between 1:00 and 4:00 pm - all are invited; they give lessons; all that is needed is flat soled shoes; there will be food and drinks.

    Commissioner Brittain announced the Pumpkin Patch event at Fort Lots of Fun on Saturday, 10/20 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.; also told of memorial service for Eizo Etow, on Friday, 10/19 at Rice Memorial.
