ACTION MINUTES

Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m.

  3. Approval of Action Minutes: June 20, 2007

    Action: Minutes were approved as written with 1 absent, 1 abstention.

  4. Public Comment: Anyone wishing to address the Commission on other items pertaining to Public Works may do so at this time.

    Lee Grant, Hermosa Beach

    Spoke about status of 16th Street changes. Was advised by Mr. Morgan that Speed Survey had been certified and approved by Council; Mr. Morgan also noted that residents of 1600 Ardmore had reported improvement on 16th west of PCH.

  6. Items for Commission Consideration

    1. Proposed changes in traffic circulation on Aubrey Court and Ocean Avenue (PDF File)

      Mr. Morgan presented the item, noting that it was brought to the Commission at the request of a resident of Aubrey Court; noted that usual practice is to have a petition before this type of request is brought to the Commission.

      The requestor, Mr. Claude Brandeau, spoke to his request noting the difficulty turning onto Aviation and back onto Aubrey Court.

      Many residents attended the meeting; 1 in favor of the proposed changes, 13 against.

      The Commission determined there was a clear consensus that residents of the area did not want the proposed changes made.

      Action: Commission unanimously (noting absence of Katz) voted to deny all the requests.

    1. Commissioner Marinelli updated the commission with regard to the Upper Pier Avenue Committee.

      Above items are presented for information purposes only.

      Mr. Flaherty advised the sweeping hours on Cypress were being analyzed and a review will determine whether they’ll be able to reduce the NO PARKING hours from 4 to 2 hours.

  9. Items Requested by Commissioners

    In response to a request from Mr. DiVirgilio, staff advised that the publications remained in their own racks at the direction of Council.

  10. Other Matters

    Lee Grant, Hermosa Beach

    Said manhole cover repair helped immensely; asked about sidewalk project for 16th and 8th Streets – was advised that the City’s “Safe Routes to School” grant request was denied.

    After some discussion, Item 10. Other Matters will be renamed Announcements.
