Correspondence

  1. Letter from Senator Debra Bowen regarding legal liability protection for cities that operate public skateboard parks.
    Recommendation: To receive and file
  2. Letter from Hermosa Beach Little League requesting moving of a storage shed and adding another storage shed to Clark Field for materials and equipment.
    Recommendation: To approve request as follows: 1) move southwest storage slightly north per staff and 2) paint old storage sheds.

Recommendation to accept donations of $10,000 from Target Stores (Mervyn's) to be used for a year round teen program; $1,250 from Sunrider Foundation to be used for Chevron Surf Camp; and $500 from Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Foundation to be used for Chevron Surf Camp. (PDF file)

Recommendation to approve a month-to-month lease agreement with the South Bay Center for Counseling for Room 9 in the Community Center.
Action: Approve staff recommendation.

Recommendation to add Community Center lease rates to the City's Master Fee Resolution to be adjusted annually based on the Consumer Price Index; review all new prospective tenants and initial lease agreements; and allow routine lease renewals to be handled administratively.

October 9, 2001

Recommendation to award construction contract for Project No. 01-628, Community Center Improvements - Courtyard, to Torres Construction of Los Angeles, CA in the amount of $138,500.72; waive the irregularities in Torres Construction's bid; authorize the Mayor to execute and the City Clerk to attest the construction contract subject to approval by the City Attorney; authorize the Director of Public Works to make minor changes as necessary within the contingency of $14,000.00; and adopt resolution approving the application for grant funds for the Community Center Improvements.
Action: Approve staff recommendation.

October 23, 2001

Recommendation that the City Council waive parking fees and time limits for the meters along both sides of Pier Avenue (from Manhattan Avenue to Hermosa Avenue) and on Hermosa Avenue between Eighth and 16th Streets, during the Sand and Strand Run on Sunday, February 10, 2002 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

November 13, 2001

Recommendation to accept donation of $250 for Hermosa each Kiwanis Foundation to be used for the Halloween Howl Activity.

December 11, 2001

Recommendation to accept donations of $250 from Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Foundation to be used for the tree lighting ceremony; and $300 from the Woman's Club of Hermosa Beach to be used for the Halloween Howl activity, the tree lighting ceremony and the Sand Snowman contest.
Action: Accept the donations.

Recommendation to approve the request, the event contract, requested street closures and fee waiver/funding for the Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Festival, Saturday, March 16th & 17th 2002.
Action: Approve staff recommendation.

January 2, 2002

Recommendation to accept donation of $200 from Hawthorne Savings to be used for the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Action: Accept the donation.
